ELIXIR Belgium is the national node of ELIXIR, the intergovernmental organisation that brings together life science resources from across Europe, supporting life science research and its translation to medicine, environment, the bio-industries and society.
The research infrastructure provides platforms and guidance for research data management and reproducible data analysis, and offers domain specific services for Plant and Biodiversity, Human health and COVID-19 research. ELIXIR Belgium also provides data related training and workshops.
Research Data Management
ELIXIR Belgium offers guidelines, tools and resources that enable researchers in life sciences to manage data in an effective and easy way.
Data Analysis Platforms
The Belgian ELIXIR Node provides guidance and platforms, such as usegalaxy.be, to perform data-intensive and reproducible computational analysis.
Based upon the needs of the life sciences community, we offer a comprehensive training program for basic and advanced data and technological expertise.
Plant & Biodiversity
The Belgian ELIXIR Node supports Plant and Biodiversity research with dynamic resources for genome annotation, comparative genomics and management of phenotyping data.
ELIXIR Belgium will play a coordinating role in the establishment of the Human Data infrastructure in Belgium focusing on interoperability and the link with Europe.
To strengthen research on human health, the Belgian ELIXIR Node engages in developing proteomics tools and resources which enrich the available genomic resources.
In support of COVID-19 research, we develop tools to facilitate the submission of SARS-CoV-2 sequencing data to ENA and to predict the behaviour of the viral proteins.
All Flemish universities and two Walloon universities are partners in the ELIXIR Belgium consortium, as well as VIB and Sciensano. These partners cover the major providers of bioinformatics infrastructure in Belgium. Visit the About page to learn more on ELIXIR Belgium's organisation and partners.
